Introduction

Welcome to the Scooby Mod Menu Guide! This guide covers everything you need to know:

  • Modded Outfits
  • Modded Vehicles
  • Playing in public lobbies
  • Troubleshooting common issues

Please make sure to follow this guide step by step. We are not responsible for any bans, so please use at your own caution.

First Time Setup

When installing Scooby for the first time, follow these steps:

Step 1: Download

Head over to scoobymenu.cc and click the download button to get the Scooby Installer. Make sure your anti-virus is turned off.

Step 2: Extract & Run

Extract the files into any folder. After that, run the .exe as an administrator. This ensures the launcher will run successfully.

Step 3: Install Requirements

Make sure you have your graphics drivers up to date.

Step 4: Inject

Load up GTA and wait for it to be on the main menu or in story mode. Then go back to the launcher, get a free license, and follow the steps.

When you have acquired your free license, click Inject. This should inject the menu into the game. Then press Insert to open the menu - congratulations, you're done!

Free Version Setup (Legacy & Enhanced)

Need a key first? See Getting a Free Key in the General tab.

FREE VERSION = SOLO ONLY - you can only play solo or with other Scooby users. You cannot play public lobbies with BattlEye disabled.

If you have used Scooby before, delete the C:\scooby folder first - the folder, not the loader. Otherwise it will probably crash due to old settings.

For both versions: make sure your antivirus is disabled or you will likely have issues, and use a Cloudflare or Proton VPN if you have connection issues. The free version runs with BattlEye off.

GTA 5 Legacy

  • Make sure your antivirus is disabled
  • Launch GTA 5
  • Inject Scooby when you reach the main menu / landing page
  • Wait for Scooby to load
  • Enter STORY MODE
  • Use the in-game pause menu to join an INVITE ONLY SESSION

GTA 5 Enhanced

  • Launch GTA 5 Enhanced
  • Inject Scooby when you reach the main menu / landing page
  • Wait for Scooby to load
  • Enter STORY MODE
  • Use the in-game pause menu or the Scooby menu to join an INVITE ONLY SESSION

You cannot play public lobbies on the free version

With BattlEye disabled you can play solo, or in a session with other Scooby users. You cannot join a public lobby and you cannot play with non-modders - joining public on the free version will crash. Public lobbies with friends require Premium Plus.

Modding Outfits

Modding outfits with Scooby is very simple! The menu includes a saved outfits section.

Using Shared Outfits

To use other people's saved outfits, find the file they share (many outfits can be found in the Scooby Discord) and save it to:

C:\scooby\GTA5\outfits

When you load in-game, use the menu to navigate to the outfits section and you will find the modded outfits there!

Creating Your Own Outfits

You can also mod outfits yourself! Head to the Outfit Editor in the Scooby menu. You can change the numbers on your character's clothing, and when you've found your perfect outfit, save it!

Modding Vehicles

Modding vehicles with Scooby is also very simple!

Creating Modded Vehicles

Open the menu and head to the Vehicles icon, then click Vehicle Editor at the bottom. This will allow you to mod your vehicle. To save it, head to Saved Vehicles, click Save Vehicle, name it, and save!

Using Shared Vehicles

Similar to outfits, you can use others' saved vehicles. Head to the Discord, find the vehicles thread, and download a file you want. Then drop it into:

C:\scooby\GTA5\vehicles

Money Making Methods

Within the Scooby menu there are many ways to make money if you don't want to do it legitimately.

Heist Method

Make sure to enable Solo Hosting in the Recovery tab. This lets you do heists that require more than 1 person. Head to the Heists tab, set up your heist accordingly, and start it. When the heist starts, click Insta Finish to end it immediately - you'll receive 100% of the cut!

Casino Method

Head to the casino and enable Manipulate Slot Machines in the Recovery > Casino option. Go to the slots, bet the max, and you'll hit the jackpot! Disable the option, force yourself to fail a slot, then turn it back on and repeat.

Business Method

Head to the Business tab on the menu and find the Fill Supplies button. Your supplies will be maxed out, ready for you to sell!

How To Host Public Sessions with Scooby (BE Disabled)

Getting a public lobby to fill up is not just luck - it comes down to a handful of factors you can actually control. This guide covers what makes players join your session and what to do when nobody shows up.

Everything here assumes you have launched GTA 5 with BattlEye disabled in the Rockstar Launcher settings, which is required for Scooby. If you have not done that yet, see First Time Setup.

There are four factors behind a lobby that actually fills: your NAT type, your aim type, the region and time you host in, and a fair amount of luck.

1. NAT Type

Your NAT type affects how easily other players can connect to your lobby.

  • Open NAT - best results for hosting
  • Moderate NAT - usually works fine
  • Strict NAT - may reduce player joins and connectivity

Important things to know:

  • NAT type is normally controlled by your router and your ISP, not by the game.
  • Some tools and scripts offer NAT spoofing, which presents a different NAT type to GTA Online. Results vary a lot and it does not work the same for every player.
  • If you consistently struggle to attract players, check your NAT type and confirm your ISP is not putting you behind CGNAT (see below).

2. Aim Type

Your aim setting decides which pool of players can even match with you.

  • Free Aim - largest player pool on PC, attracts the most players
  • Partial Aim Assist - still a decent number of players
  • Full Aim Assist - smallest player pool on PC, expect fewer joins

For the highest chance of filling a lobby, start with Free Aim.

3. Region and Timing

Timing matters as much as the region itself. Aim for hours when people are:

  • Getting home from work
  • Finishing school
  • Already gaming during the evening

Good windows to try:

  • North America, evenings
  • Europe, evenings
  • Weekends beat weekday mornings by a wide margin

If one region is quiet, switch to another and try again.

4. Luck

Sometimes everything is set up perfectly and the lobby still will not fill. You can host a session that fills instantly, then host the exact same session 30 minutes later and get nobody. GTA Online matchmaking is unpredictable, so persistence is part of the process.

Bonus: Check for CGNAT

Some ISPs place customers behind Carrier Grade NAT (CGNAT), which shares one public IP between many customers. This can hurt your connectivity, your matchmaking and your hosting reliability.

  • Contact your ISP
  • Ask whether your connection is behind CGNAT
  • Request a public IPv4 address if they offer one

Bonus: Use a VPN

A VPN can sometimes improve how visible you are in matchmaking. Best practice:

  • Connect to a VPN server in a densely populated area
  • Match your VPN region to the audience you are trying to attract

Locations players commonly report good results with: New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, Frankfurt. Results vary, but busy metro areas generally give better lobby population.

Checklist - you have done everything right if:

  • Session advertising is enabled
  • You are on Open or Moderate NAT
  • You picked the right Aim Type (Free Aim fills fastest)
  • You chose an active region and a busy time of day
  • You confirmed you are not behind CGNAT

Still Alone?

Be patient. Try different combinations, restart the session, switch regions and keep experimenting. An empty lobby after one attempt does not mean your setup is wrong.

If All Else Fails - Get Friends to Join First

A lobby that already has a few players inside attracts far more players than an empty one. Once the first few people arrive, GTA Online matchmaking tends to do the rest. You can also turn on Player Magnet in the Network tab to help pull players in.

In short: hosting is a combination of NAT type, aim type, region, ISP quality and a little bit of luck.

Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you may encounter:

Failed to allocate memory in target process

Head to your Rockstar Launcher, click on Settings, and disable BattlEye. This will fix the issue.

Please return to Grand Theft Auto V (Black Screen)

You must inject the menu during the loading screen. This message means the game is signifying you're going back to story mode.

BattlEye is required to play GTA V Online

Same solution - inject the menu during the loading screen, not when you're already in the game.

Black screen with an error message

Restart your game without opening Scooby and go to story mode before injecting. Frame Generator is now supported, so you no longer need to turn it off.

Failed to write process memory

Turn off BattlEye in the Rockstar Launcher settings.

Launcher closes after opening

Use a VPN - your ISP may be blocking the menu. If that doesn't work, delete the C:\scooby folder to clear your cache, then restart Scooby.

Free key website unreachable

Your internet is blocking it - use a VPN.

Injection success but doesn't work in game

Use a VPN - your ISP may be interfering with the connection.

Injection Failed

There are several fixes:

  • Use a VPN
  • Ensure all anti-virus software is disabled
  • Reset the Scooby cache by deleting the C:\scooby folder and restarting

See Universal Troubleshooting in the General tab - it covers "Failed to inject module", Auth Failed, crashing on inject, BattlEye kicks and the Scooby folder going missing. If Windows is flagging or deleting the loader, start with the Antivirus & Download FAQ.
